    Position Summary

    To support our efforts to grow originations in line with our corporate strategy. Your goal is to develop relationships with existing and prospective Marlin small business customers and provide them with additional capital to finance the growth of their businesses. We take a consultative approach to help our customers grow their business by teaching them the benefits of commercial financing using telephone/email communication.  We win their trust by providing an exceptional customer experience and expedient execution of transactions. A very professional and customer service oriented approach is both important and required. Marlin will provide extensive training and support to help you succeed. What the Business Development Representative needs to provide is the desire to be successful and the ability to perform in a vigorous and passionate environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop sales plans and targets within the boundaries of Marlin’s overall corporate objectives.
    • Prospect, acquire, and onboard enterprise-level B2B customers with the objective of building relationships and generating sales.
    • Identify, communicate and negotiate effectively with Executive Level decision makers at prospect companies with a goal of customer program agreements as applicable.
    • Expected to originate and maintain large customer opportunities using program selling techniques.
    • Work to optimize presentation decks, successful launch kits, and superior onboard/training programs.
    • Demonstrate a consultative sales approach.
    • Maintain daily KPIs necessary to achieve monthly targets and long-term success of channel
    • Perform annual account plans and quarterly business reviews with customers.
    • Responsible for developing and delivering successful strategies to maximize dealers’ sales growth.
    • Train customers on available technologies and resources, set up reports and access for the customer to self-serve as appropriate.
    • Develop strategic plans to optimize penetration of desired verticals and related prospects.
    • Willing to travel as needed to support and acquire customers at industry tradeshows, open-house, or customer buying events.
    • Maintain a strong awareness on key industry trends and become a subject matter expert when engaging with customers.
    • Work closely with the sales leaders in forecasting pipeline growth, sales activity and volume achievements.
    • Meet with dealer/end user principals, finance managers and sales manager to introduce and present Marlin programs and services, promptly relay credit decisions, negotiate terms, close deals and explain the benefits that Marlin brings to the market.
    • Self-manage a national territory by planning, scheduling and performing dealer/end user visits, handling dealer issues/questions/concerns.
    • Ability to prescreen, compile sales/credit package, structure and price larger transactions as needed.
    • Meet or exceed budgeted forecasts for both volume and yield to drive profitability.
    • Lives the Marlin values; involved in cross functional team efforts as required and assigned.

    Qualifications

    • An Undergraduate degree required.
    • 5 plus years’ of proven experience with thorough knowledge and understanding of the commercial equipment leasing industry
    • Successful track record of sales meeting and exceeding volume and yield expectations.
    • Excellent negotiating and closing skills with ability to develop an assigned territory and build strong relationships
    • Already developed dealer/end user relationships within territory
    • Have a clear understanding of finance and lease transactions with the ability to discuss those transactions with appropriate dealer personnel or any other party
    • Develop and present training sessions to dealer personnel as needed
    • Travel with some overnight stays in the field
    • Plan and manage travel and entertainment expenses prudently and submit expense reports timely
    • Assist other Marlin departments as needed

    • Self-motivated with ability to function independently.

    • Polished and professional presentation skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to cold call, as well as ask for referrals and recommendations to warm-up leads.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
