    Position Summary

    To support our efforts to grow originations in line with our corporate strategy. Your goal is to develop relationships with existing and prospective Marlin small business customers and provide them with additional capital to finance the growth of their businesses. We take a consultative approach to help our customers grow their business by teaching them the benefits of commercial financing using telephone/email communication.  We win their trust by providing an exceptional customer experience and expedient execution of transactions. A very professional and customer service oriented approach is both important and required. Marlin will provide extensive training and support to help you succeed. What the Business Development Representative needs to provide is the desire to be successful and the ability to perform in a vigorous and passionate environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Position requires significant phone contact with both prospects and customers, utilizing an in-house contact management system.
    • Grow existing Marlin customer relationships 
    • Interface with Credit department colleagues on new origination volume
    • Develop and maintain accurate data in client database
    • Prepare financial support and documentation for all finance contracts
    • Handle incoming business opportunities from new and existing customers
    • Achieve daily and monthly sales volume and account management quotas

    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent communication and telephone
    • Strong negotiating skills
    • Ability to quickly learn and grasp financial product information concepts
    • Ability to produce accurate, succinct credit analysis for transactions requiring review of financial statements
    • Must possess excellent collaboration skills

    Qualifications

    • 1+ Year of sales experience preferred
    • Customer service focus and a professional approach to building B2B relationships
    • Self-driven with an entrepreneurial spirit
    • A drive and desire to achieve results
    • Financial services experience helpful but not required
    • Undergraduate degree preferred
